Search for missing man underway in Hiawatha

Colleagues of a man missing since Saturday are providing more details as a search in Hiawatha is underway.

Igor Dragoslavic, a 58-year-old who works as operations manager for Transitions Bike Parks in Kitchener, was last seen by family members around 8 a.m. in the 100 block of Pentagon Boulevard on Saturday.

According to Cindy Pruce of the Sault Cycling Club, Dragoslavic has been in town since early September to help with the Finn Hill Mountain Bike project.

Pruce explains that construction of the trail for the project was scheduled to start next week or the week after, and she says that Dragoslavic had spent time marking the new trail in Hiawatha.

“He was just in Hiawatha hiking some of the other new trails from the sounds,” she says.

Several police cars and a mobile command unit have been sitting in the parking lot of the Soo Finnish Nordic Ski Club since early this morning.

Chris Dewar, president of the Kitchener-based bike company and close colleague of Dragoslavic, says his vehicle is a black ex-Honda CR-V.

Pruce says the Ontario Provincial Police are now involved in the situation and will be traveling to Hiawatha to help with the search.

“If there are people who want to help with the search, the OPP is looking for people to check in around 10 a.m. this morning, or as soon as they can come,” she said. “They are going to give people grids to help with research”
