Police rescue kidnapped community leader and search for couple – Blueprint Newspapers Limited

Officers from the Imo State Police Command managed to rescue a community leader, Chief Frank, who was kidnapped on Sunday while driving along Ubomiri in the Mbaitoli local government area, alongside his daughter on their Range Rover Jeep.

Our correspondent understood that immediately after the kidnapping, their captors took them along the volatile road to Orlu. But Imo Police Command spokesman CSP Mike Abattam confirmed to Blueprint on Monday morning that they had been rescued.

Of the couple abducted on their way to church service the same day while driving in their Lexus 350 vehicle, it was found that their captors had driven them to the same Orlu axis. But a call was made to the company that sold the vehicle to the man and he was located and arrested on the way. At this point, the kidnappers abandoned the vehicle and requisitioned Okada agents who helped them complete the journey to their hideout.

Later, when villagers were asked where the kidnappers and their victims were, they admitted to seeing them but did not want to reveal where they had taken them for fear of being attacked.

However, CSP Abattam revealed his men were already on their trail and promised to take stock later.
