Major search underway for missing rock fisherman on NSW south coast

An ongoing operation on the NSW south coast to locate a fisherman is believed to be linked to the search for a man who went missing in Sydney overnight.

Police have asked for information from the public on the whereabouts of Duc Nguyen Ong, who was last seen leaving his home in Cabramatta at around 10am yesterday.

The 34-year-old was last seen wearing a dark colored t-shirt, black shorts and work boots.

He was reported missing by his family when he did not return home overnight.

Police believe he may have driven his white Hyundai iLoad, registered NSW ENS 92C, in the Kiama and Gerringong area.

Personal effects were found on rocks in the area. (ABC Illawarra: Justin Huntsdale)

Mr Nguyen Ong’s car was found this morning parked at Marsden Heads, near the Little Blowhole in Kiama.

Police say he was seen walking towards the rocky ledge around midday yesterday, and personal effects were found on the rocks.

Local police, Marine Area Command, PolAir, Marine Rescue NSW and Surf Life Saving NSW are currently searching the coastline between Kendalls Beach and Shoalhaven Heads.
