LAFC looking to sell Cristian Arango as they seek their 3rd DP
In an uplifting tweet, journalist Michele Giannone says the club are actively looking for a third DP striker and are looking to bring the Colombian forward.
LAFC want to do smart business, they have big ambitions by winning the MLS Cup this season with the signings of Gareth Bale and Giorgio Chiellini both of whom won’t count as DPs this season, while re-signing Carlos Vela. That being said, co-chairman and general manager John Thorrington also wants LAFC to play the market and would be looking to sell up to six players in the summer transfer window.
Thorrington has always said there will always be addition by subtraction as the club sold Diego Rossi and Eduard Atuesta last year, while looking to continue bringing in talented young players to sell later.
Now Univision journalist Michele Giannone suggests the club are actively looking for a third DP striker, but to do so they are ready to sell the current goal-scoring machine. Christian Arango.
Who is the third DP wanted by LAFC?
As Michele Giannone reported, the third DP striker should have the following characteristics: International, Under 30 and Mobile. Knowing that the DP would command a high value, the club are ready to part ways with one of their aces, Cristian Arango.
Cristian Arango hit the ground running in MLS with 20 goals in 34 games for the club while not even taking a DP spot. Arango could demand a good transfer fee and it’s not a stretch to believe that the player could be sold in the summer and left in the winter, as many MLS clubs have already made such transfers.
The five other players mentioned who could be sold were not mentioned by name, but Diego Palacios, Mohamed Traore and Brian Rodriguez There are only three players the club could get a high transfer for, despite Rodríguez costing the club a lot of money. It has been difficult to find suitors for the Uruguayan winger.
